Jo Lewzey - RYT 500
My name is Jo Lewzey and I am the founder of Yoga Precision. I would like to warmly welcome you to my virtual yoga studio.
I was born in London and have been living in the Bay Area since 2002.
I have been teaching yoga for 18 years and studying it since I arrived in the US.
I came to yoga through a dance background and was searching for something with a perfect balance of the physical and spiritual aspects.
What I didn’t really understand when I found yoga was how much it was going to help me heal some of my deepest wounds.
Yoga is so much more than a physical practice. It is a deeply profound science of understanding how we as human beings operate on all levels. This includes the most subtle part of ourselves, the mind.
I was one who would tend to run away from challenging experiences and emotions. I didn’t have an inner foundation of how to navigate difficult feelings.
Back in 2010 I met my most influential teacher Maritza. I was blown away by the depth of her experience within her practice. She had an incredibly skillful way of teaching. This catapulted me into a whole new experience of yoga.
Through my own practice I was able to stay present and aware when challenging emotions or sensations would arise within me. I became less reactive to my own thoughts and more able to observe from a strong, calm yet resilient perspective.
I was able to heal long-held trauma and old injuries from my dancing days. I became a more fully integrated human being, with a deep appreciation for my humanness and recognizing all the layers that make up who I am.
I subsequently studied with Maritza for 6 years. I completed over 800 hours of an in-depth practice of asana (postures), pranayama (breath work), and meditation. She was my teacher, my mentor and now my dear friend.
I have continued my education with a 300hr Teacher Training course with Noah Maze, (founder of The Maze Method). I am consistently learning, growing, and evolving with my continued education.
I have taught thousands of hours at many yoga studios around the Bay Area - Yoga Studio, The Mindful Body, Yoga Works, Yoga Tree, Yoga Mountain Studio, The Center SF, Padma Studio, Embrace Yoga.
I teach (one on one) private lessons, regular group classes, workshops, and teacher trainings. It is my absolute passion and joy to share this profound and life-changing practice with as many people as possible. It is my honor to serve you and my community on this journey.
