I love incorporating one on one private sessions with Jo in addition to our group classes. It compliments my practice beautifully. Jo is able to focus on what my body needs at that time. We address areas of weaknesses or old injuries that need strengthening. We address positions that may be challenging in class for me and work through them privately together. But most importantly, we address alignment of positions so that group work will always be safe in any class setting. I highly encourage private sessions to compliment your yoga practice.

Setting Up Your Home Practice

As we have shifted into a new way of life, many of us are getting used to practicing at home. Your home practice can become a sacred and quiet place for you. It is important to set it up with care and intention. Find a place that has lots of light and enough space to move around freely on your mat. As we use the wall often in class, scope out a small wall or door space you can use from time to time.

Suggested Yoga Props

Set up your space with :

Addressing The “Myth” About Yoga Props

It is common for a person to think that by needing a yoga prop that somehow there is something wrong with them.
Mr B.K.S Iyengar developed the use of yoga props in the 1970’s. The props enabled students of all ages with different limitations to perform the postures correctly and minimize the risk of injury. This is the reason why we now use props as a great tool to teach the body certain skills or actions while creating muscle memory. Often, the props allow for a much deeper opening within the pose.
Your yoga props are something you will use for the rest of your life and I highly recommend the investment.
